Men's hair fade: how do you get one and why?
A haircut that transitions gradually from bare skin to your hair line is known as a hair fade. This transition is most visible when a man has darker hair, but when you have blonde hair it can still be a nice option.
When you go for a hair fade, you start with shaved skin at your ears and work your way up to your hairline. When you stop before getting to the hairline it is called a low taper fade. Only a small area around your ears is faded that way. A regular fade has a gradual transition between your skin at your ears and the hair on top. It does not have a sharp line. When you do have a clear line between the hair on top and your sides, then this is usually called an undercut.
When you do not have a nice and sharp hairline at your ears or neck, a hair fade can hide this very well because there is no real hairline anymore.
Create a hair fade
If you want to make your own fade, it is important to have a steady hand or use the different guards on a clipper to help you obtain a gradual fade. Next, you will have to cut or shave your hair in strokes around your ear. Those strokes will get bigger when you get further away from your ear. Try to make these strokes about 1-2 fingers wide.
So, you can do this by hand or you can use a comb and lift the comb a little bit more with every stroke to create your hair fade, but it is best to have this done by a barber or hairdresser. A men's hair fade is always best to have done by a barber in the first place. Perhaps afterwards (with some tips) you can try to maintain it yourself at home.
The hair on the top you can style however you want. You can keep your hair short to medium long. You can also create a gradual transition there or you can make a hard-part. This is convenient when you want to keep the hair on the top longer.
Men's fade hairstyles
These pictures show different versions of a hair fade and certain variations. The fade itself can be slightly different, like a regular fade, skin fade or lowtaper fade, but you can especially distinctive yourself with the hair on top. The possibilities are endless. The choice between a gradual fade or a hard-part is a nice variation and up to you.
On the top you have some many variations you can choose from to get the look you want. When you do not like to use hair products or hardly any, then you can keep the hair shorter and just comb it a bit to the front.
But you can also keep the hair on top a bit longer and style it as a pompadour or comb-over. When you go for this kind of look a hard-part will look pretty cool.
A men's hair fade is not just for young boys and hipster guys, but it is for all ages and men. When you are a bit older, but want to freshen up your hairstyle or create a slightly edgier look, a hair fade could be for you.
Hair fade and hair care
When you have a hair fade and especially a skin fade, then you not only have to take good care of your hair, but also of your visible skin.
That is why it is important to use a shampoo that works well for your hair and scalp.
A good example of such a product is the Pete and Pedro Clean Shampoo. The Pete and Pedro Clean Shampoo is a product made by the famous YouTuber Alpha M. Your hair will get cleaner instantly and it will become more healthy because of natural ingredients. The invigorating formula removes dead skin cells and excessive oil out of your hair and provides hydration.
The Pete and Pedro Shampoo has antibacterial properties and removes micro-organism that can cause white flakes, skin irritation and dandruff. It is best not to use this product in colored hair. This shampoo is paraben-free.
Olivier said this about the Pete and Pedro Shampoo on Moquer.nl:
“Thanks to this shampoo I am always looking forward to my next shampoo. Peppermint provides a cool and tingling feeling. The other ingredients provide a clean feeling and healthy scalp. Especially in combination with the conditioner you soon will have bueno hair.”

Hair styling and hair fade
If you want to show your men's hair fade well, then you want to style your hair to keep it in place on top. In that case you decide how much of your hair fade is showing instead of the natural way of your hair.
Depending on what hair type you have, you can use a product with a high hold or a product with less hold.
A strong hold is useful when you want to comb your hair back or when you want to style your hair up. It also helps to prevent that gravity is pulling your hair down during the day.
Hair fade and slick-back hairstyle
To comb back your hair, you will need a strong hold product. For slick-back looks you can best use a pomade.
A great pomade to consider for this is the Uppercut Deluxe Pomade. It is the first product created by this brand and has been popular for many years. This pomade works best for classic hairstyles, including the slick-back. The Uppercut Pomade provides a high hold with some shine.
Even though it has a strong hold, it does not make your hair very stiff and it also does not cause any white flakes. This pomade works for all hair types and hair styles up to a medium length. And this product is water based, so you can easily wash it out with warm water.
Sal said this about this pomade on Moquer.nl:
“After Suavecito I switched to Deluxe Uppercut (just to try it). Suavecito dries in a little bit, but the Uppercut does not. Uppercut is a little bit thicker compared to Suavecito. Shine is subtle, but not entirely matte. It has a delicious caramel/coconut scent. Just a great pomade, just like Suavecito.”

Men's hair fade and relaxed hairstyle
Do you want a more relaxed hairstyle? In that case you can use just a hair spray.
A great hair spray for a hairstyle like this is the Baxter of California Clay Effect Style Spray because of its hold. It also provides a lot of texture and a matte finish. Your hair will look fuller and gets more volume. This product will give your hair a high hold and a dry, gritty finish. That is why it also works well for men with thinner hair and if you like to get more of a beach look.
Baxter of California Clay Effect Style Spray is moisture repellent and contains heat protectant ingredients, so you can safely blow-dry your hair. This product can either be used as a pre-styler or as a post-styler. It is safe to use this product in colored hair and the formula does not contain any parabens or sulfates.
Joni said this about this hair spray on Moquer.nl:
“Finally a styling/finishing spray that provides me with the necessary hold.”
