Short hair for men: how to style and clean it?
Theoretically it should be very easy to have a short hairstyle as a man. Get some clippers and you will be done soon, but unfortunately it is not as easy as it sounds.
Short hair will always be in fashion for men. It is simple and relatively easy to style. There are a lot of different short hairstyles for men, so you can vary. Short hair does not mean a buzz cut, so not a hairstyle you get when you use clippers without guards.
Short hair and face shape
A short hairstyle can have a lot of effect on how your face will look or your face shape can have a lot of effect on the short hairstyle that looks good on you.
A round face works great for an undercut hairstyle or a hairstyle that is shorter on the sides and longer on the top. That way your face will look a bit longer.
A square face can handle short hairstyles really well and also even shorter ones.
A rectangular face shape works for shorter hairstyles and you can also style it more to the front to make your forhead look smaller.
A heart shaped face will be able to pull off shorter hairstyles with some longer hair on top or when the look is semi-short. An example is Keanu Reeves when he has shorter hair. A side-part also works well for men with heart-shaped faces.
How to take care of short hair?
You do not only have to take care of your shorter hair, but also your scalp. Especially when your hair is shorter. You need to wash it of course and a conditioner is also smart to use every now and then.
You should hydrate your hair properly, so it stays volumized and appears thick.
A good shampoo to use on shorter hairstyles is the Hanz de Fuko Natural Shampoo. This is a very luxurious and effective cleanser to keep your hair clean and healthy with some shine. This modern formula contains 16 plant extracts and 10 amino acids. These promote natural hair growth and a healthy scalp.
When you use it for longer periods of time, you will clearly see that your hair is getting thicker, stronger and easier to manage. And the Hanz de Fuko Natural Shampoo does not contain any parabens or sulfates. This shampoo has a fresh mint and eucalyptus scent.

Drying your hair
After showering it seems easy enough to quickly dry your hair by rubbing your towel vigorously and quickly on your hair, but don't do this! Pat your hair dry instead. Press the towel against your hair, so it can easily absorb the water.
When you rub the towel vigorously, it can damage your hair or even pull out a few hairs because of the friction. That is no fun when you want to enjoy your hair and not go bald prematurely.
Heat and short hair
Warm water of a blow-dryer can make your hair dry and fragile. Heat removes natural oils and fatty acids from your hair.
So, try to take showers that are not hotter than 38 degrees Celsius and when you use a blow-dryer, do not use the hottest setting when your hair is short. That is also better for your scalp.
Hats and caps
Just like towels, the fabric of hats or caps can create friction and result in hair loss. That is why it is important to wear the correct size. Do not wear it to tight on your head. It is better to have it slightly too big than slightly too small.
Styling short hair
You can use a lot of hair styling products for short hair. Depending on how you would like to style your hair, some hair spray can be enough, or you can use a gel, wax, clay or pomade with a high hold for more styling.
Do you want to use a comb? Then use a comb with the teeth further apart, like the Moquer Big Comb. It works particularly well with long hair, but a wide tooth comb is also handy when you are afraid a comb will pull your shorter hair.
Jan likes the comb and said the following:
"Feels very solid and the teeth further apart help you not to pull your hair out.''

The comb is a great tool to start with, but you probably need some product to keep your combed hair into the desired model.
Short hair works well with hair clay, like the By Christiaan Calypso Hair Clay. That is a hair clay with bentonite as the main ingredient. It provides a medium to high hold with a (semi) matte finish. Your hair will get a lot of texture and you can easily run your hands through your hair. This hair clay works best for men with messy and tousled hair likes, but it is versatile enough to also achiever other looks.
This product is made for men with thicker hair that want to achieve that 'high hold, low shine' look. You will get a lot of control and restyling is no problem. Use a bit of shampoo to wash out this product completely. There has been no scent added to the Calypso Hair Clay, so it smells like a proper clay with earthy notes.
CP likes the product and says the following in his review:
"Great packaging and light natural clay scent. I use it for the finishing touch to get some hold and it does not perfect.''

Suavecito Pomade Original dries in slightly and provides shine. This pomade is easy to wash out, because it is a water based product.. This pomade works best for the classic looks, like pompadours, slick-backs and side-parts. The formula is paraben and sulfate free. It has the signature Suavecito fragrance.
